(dpa) - The documentary "Boom! Boom! The World vs. Boris Becker” by director Alex Gibney will be on the Apple TV+ streaming service in just over four weeks. The two parts, each around 90 minutes, will review many stages of Becker's career ascent from April 7th - and above all give the tennis legend himself a lot of space. "For the Apple Original docuseries, the film crew had exclusive access to Becker for three years prior to his April 2022 sentencing," the work is advertised. In addition to Becker, companions such as Becker's former manager Ion Tiriac or the ex-professional players Björn Borg and John McEnroe also have their say.
Alex Gibney, whose film Taxi to Hell won the 2008 Academy Award for Best Documentary, served as director and screenwriter. He interviewed Becker in 2019 and 2022, just days before he was sentenced to two and a half years in London. According to the verdict, the former tennis star had concealed assets worth millions from his insolvency administrators. In mid-December, Becker was released after 231 days.
On Friday, Becker (55) will present his latest advertising deal at a press conference in Berlin. He is now promoting windows, as the "Bild am Sonntag" reported. In one spot he throws money out of the window in a self-deprecating manner.
Advertising with Becker has had cult status in recent decades, think of the AOL spot with which he was once supposed to make the Internet palatable to Germans: “Am I in there already, or what? - I am in!"
